Storing Your ATV

First and foremost, always keep your ATV stored out of plain view – ideally in a locked garage or storage shed. This will not only deter theft, it will also protect your ATV from the elements.

Whether or not you are able to your ATV indoors, you should consider using a protective cover. This adds another layer of protection and shields your ATV from view.

Using an ATV Lock

When storing your ATV, always make sure to remove the keys and store them somewhere safe. Some ATVs come with a steering lock feature that you can activate, which locks the wheels by turning them in the opposite direction. For more protection, you can install additional locks and security devices, such as wheel locks and ground anchors.

Installing a Security System

If you want to go the extra mile, you can implement a security system to protect your ATV from theft. There are a lot of security systems on the market these days that incorporate motion-sensitive cameras, and send alerts to your mobile phone when they detect suspicious activity. These systems can be installed in your garage, driveway, or backyard.

Tracking Down a Stolen ATV

In the event that your ATV is stolen, the first step is to file a police report. Keep in mind that stolen vehicles are often recovered, and ATVs are no exception! So, make sure to keep good track of all your records, including the VIN number and serial number associated with the stolen vehicle. These will come in handy if and when the authorities find your ATV.

Better yet, if your ATV features a GPS tracking device, you can monitor its location in real-time and provide that information to the police. This can help you recover a stolen ATV before it winds up on the black market!
